For the first time in SEVENTEEN YEARS, a female solo artist is topping the alternative music charts.
And her name be Lorde!!!
Yay!!! Yay!!! YAY!!!
Our little Kiwi got her first #1 single spot on Billboard’s Alt list with her song Royals!
The 16-year-old becomes the first woman to do so since Tracy Bonham‘s song Mother, Mother won the top spot way back in June of 1996.
Just how long ago was that? Um, Lorde wasn’t even BORN yet!!! That’s how long ago that was!
We are THA-RILLED to hear this news. And we’ll be even more thrilled when we get to hear Lorde’s first full-length US album, debuting next month!
The LP now has a name too!
