Luigi Mangione has some dedicated fans after he allegedly murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December of 2024 — but one of them is a little too dedicated!
Mark Anderson, a 35-year-old man from Minnesota, was arrested at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday because he allegedly tried to bust Mangione out of jail! According to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC News, when Anderson arrived at the federal prison, workers asked to see his credentials, but he allegedly produced a Minnesota driver’s license instead.

He then claimed “that he was an FBI Agent in possession of paperwork ‘signed by a judge’ authorizing the release of a specific inmate.” While the court document didn’t name names, a law enforcement source identified the inmate as Mangione. The complaint continued:
“Anderson also displayed and threw at [Bureau of Prisons] officers numerous documents. They appear to be related to filing claims against the United States Department of Justice.”
Anderson also informed the prison workers he was “in possession of weapons,” and they found a barbecue fork and a “round steel blade” that resembled a pizza cutter in his backpack. The law enforcement source alleged he traveled to New York City from Minnesota for a job that fell through and was working at a pizzeria. He got the pizza cutter there, we guess.
Anderson was charged with impersonating an FBI agent on Thursday. He is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center, as the judge found him to be a flight risk, per a spokesperson for the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
Something tells us this will all be news to Luigi, LOLz!
