Christina Hendricks has played Joan Holloway on Mad Men for so long that we forget the ravishing redhead is just a character.
With the show ending tonight, the actress lets her (naturally strawberry blonde) hair down, slips into some more modern looks, and reflects about it’s 7-season run to Los Angeles Confidential magazine.
It hasn’t quite sunk in yet that the Mad Men finale is airing:
“I don’t know. I don’t think I’ve said goodbye. As I watch the last episode, maybe that will happen. It’s a very weird sensation. I just always have taken it for granted. Like, I still get to go back in six months and play her again. But not this time.”
But the 40-year-old actress is looking forward to the future when talking about what’s next:
“Everything’s left. But I also don’t have a check-list, because that’s not how things have gone so far. [I’ll] sort of know it when I see it.”

Besides those fabulous fashions, Christina says she’s learned a lot from her character:
“I’d like to think that I walked away learning to embrace things as they come and to learn from my mistakes and grow. I felt like Joan did a lit of growing, and I hope that I learned from that. Only time will tell.”
