Christina Hendricks & Geoffrey Arend Split After 10 Years Of Marriage

We are sad to relay yet another Hollywood breakup from seemingly out of nowhere as Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend are splitting after a dozen years together.

The two were introduced 12 years ago by Christina’s Mad Men costar Vincent Kartheiser just as her career was going into overdrive thanks to the hit AMC show. They were married just two years later.

Hendricks and Arend, a working actor probably still best known for playing a drugged out college student in Super Troopers, both shared the same statement announcing the breakup on their individual Instagram accounts:

“Twelve years ago we fell in love and became partners. We joined our two amazing families, had countless laughs, made wonderful friends and were blessed with incredible opportunities. Today, we take our next step together, but on separate paths.”

Very “conscious uncoupling” language. It seems the pair are ending things amicably. The statement continues:

“We will always be grateful for the love we’ve shared and will always work together to raise our two beautiful dogs.”

Speaking of Tatiana and Zou Zou, Arend actually foreshadowed the announcement last week with an IG pic with the doggos all about “feeling low” — which was portentously posted on the couple’s wedding anniversary October 11.

Despite so much time together, they do not have any children, a decision they made and held to very early on.

In a 2014 Health interview, Christina opened up about their conscious preference to avoid parenting:

“That’s where my motherly nature comes in — we got a puppy, and that’s my idea of starting a family. People say, ‘Oh, that’s practice for parenting,’ but if it’s practice for anything it’s to be a mom to another puppy. We’ve decided that we are not really interested in having children.

It seems like it’s expected that you’d want to have kids. It’s just very normal for people to say, ‘Well, when you guys have kids…’ And then when I say, ‘Actually I don’t think we’re going to do that,’ people will say, ‘Oh, you say that now…’ It doesn’t bother me, though. And, you know, there’s a small chance I could change my mind.”

It’s possible the 44-year-old changed, and that led to the “separate paths.” But frankly we have no idea. The couple have always been very private, and we have no idea what actually drove them apart.
