Meghan Markle's Dad Laments Not Being Invited To Baby Archie's Christening

Thomas Markle laments over not being invited to Archie's christening

Another day, another family milestone from which Thomas Markle has been excluded!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry christened their newborn son Archie Harrison over the weekend, and most of the family was there to celebrate. Most of the Royal family anyway.
The couple released a few pics from the intimate ceremony, which took place at Windsor Castle, on Instagram Saturday, showing them posing with the likes of Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland.
Meg’s estranged father, however, was unsurprisingly absent — and he’s pretty upset about not being invited to his grandson’s christening, seeing as he’s such an apparently devout man.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, the 74-year-old said:

“I have been asked if I would have liked to have gone to Britain to see my new grandson being christened. I was an altar boy at age 12, a confirmed member of the Queen’s church at age 14, and Archie is my new grandson, so of course I would have enjoyed being there for the blessing…”

The former lighting director added that he wishes his grandson, along with the royal couple, “health and happiness” as they continue to ignore his existence.
Despite certain family absences, the christening, which was officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, looked to be a wonderful affair for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. According to the Instagram caption from their official account, Meg and Harry “feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie.”

Who exactly Archie’s godparents are remains unclear; though it’s been reported Harry’s close friend Charlie van Straubenzee has been named Archie’s godfather. For those who don’t know, Harry and Charlie first met at Ludgrove Prep School in Berkshire. They went on to become close friends and even attended the Rugby World Cup together in 2015.
It’s also possible Princess Diana’s sisters, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, were given godparent roles, as the pair were also included in the Royal Family photo released by the palace.
While the family is keeping the eight-week-old baby’s godparents’ identities hush-hush, they happily spilled all the deets on his baptism garb. The IG post explained:

“Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue.”

It appears the tradition of snubbing Meghan’s dad will also continue.

As we reported, Thomas previously claimed he was “frozen out” by the royal family after he famously skipped his daughter’s wedding to Harry last MayHopefully he can patch things up before the next royal christening.
