We’re finally getting a better look into Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s life at home, including their family members!
After adopting a black Labrador together in 2018, just a few months after tying the knot, the name of the rescued pup went largely unknown… until now! Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, authors of Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, explain in a new excerpt published via People that the high-energy dog is named Pula.

As you can imagine, a name as unique as that must have a very special meaning to the animal-loving couple. A little research will tell you Pula is the official currency of Botswana, the African country where Harry took the Suits star when they first began their romance in 2016. In Setswana, Pula means “rain,” and since it is very scarce in the country, it’s considered a valuable blessing.
Aww, so sweet!
This is the latest bit of info coming out of the forthcoming tell-all book, which promises to reveal insider and in-depth info into what really went down pre-Megxit, even so far as dating all the way back to the early days of Meg and Harry.
An earlier passage revealed how Archie Harrison‘s momma really was the perfect fit for her future husband from the start, giving him the strength to make his own decisions for the first time:
“While the British media often blamed royal wives, in Harry’s case, he was very much on board with distancing himself from the public eye. It’s why he gravitated to the military, avoided the pomp as much as he could, and didn’t give his child a title.”
Scobie added (below):
“Meghan emboldened Harry. He needed someone by his side that is strong enough to weather the same storms, but also someone who wasn’t afraid of breaking the rules and going against the norm. What we see now is a couple doing things their own way.”
Not only does this new book include plenty of insight from the veteran royal journalists, but deep dives from friends of Duke and Duchess as well. Durand noted:
“What has struck me is Harry’s commitment to put his royal birthright aside and use his voice to make a difference. In Meghan he found a partner in that.”
