There’s a brand new theory on THAT royal wedding fiasco!
For years now, obsessed fans have been trying to get to the bottom of a very specific feud between Meghan Markle and Princess Catherine. This one is about issues with Princess Charlotte‘s bridesmaid dress for the Suits star’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
Reports after the nuptials claimed that the bride made her sister-in-law cry! It was a really early strike against Meghan in the public eye… But in her 2021 Oprah interview, the Duchess argued “the reverse happened” — she was the one crying over Kate’s actions! Her hubby backed her up by releasing text messages in his memoir Spare that detailed exactly what the women were arguing about. The Sussexes both claimed Kate ultimately apologized, suggesting she knew she was in the wrong.

The tailor who ultimately fixed Charlotte and the other bridesmaids’ dresses — a massive production that lasted until late in the night the evening before the ceremony — also previously said he saw no signs of a fight, but that he wouldn’t be surprised given the high stakes of the event. There’s been a lot of different versions of the story out there — and now there’s another!
In Tom Quinn‘s new biography, Yes, Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, a royal staffer shares their account of the fight — claiming everyone got it wrong! They say, per a Newsweek excerpt on Tuesday:
“I can tell you that all the papers and commentators got this wrong, the truth is that as with many of these spats between sisters, brothers or even sisters-in-law, both sides were really upset.”
So, who made who cry?? The staffer dished:
“The truth is that during the discussions about the bridesmaid’s dress, Meghan said a few things she regretted and Kate said a few things she later regretted, but it was all in the heat of the moment. Both women were crying their eyes out!”
Aw! So they were BOTH at fault! Guess we shouldn’t be surprised neither party wanted to own up to their wrongdoing, but it makes sense. It takes two to tango!
The lead-up to the high-profile wedding was obviously tense and hectic for them both, and emotions got the better of them. It happens. But just think of the years of headline-making controversy they could have avoided if they’d just been honest from the start (if this account of what happened is more accurate, that is).
The staff member added that the media blew the issue out of proportion, noting that when “private royal” issues reach the media, it often gets “subtly altered and usually made more significant than it really is,” remarking:
“But even the royals tend to believe what they read in the newspapers if it suits them, so the incident with the bridesmaid’s dress became a kind of marker for all the other problems that Meghan had with Kate and with William and other members of the family.”
Thoughts? Are U buying this? Or do you think one of them was more at fault than the other? Sound OFF (below).
