Prior to the huge memorial service at the Staples Center, Michael Jackson’s family shared a more intimate ceremony gathered around his open casket at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills on Monday night.
And according to David Fossett, a cousin who grew up with Jackson, “He looked like himself. He looked like he just was laying there sleeping. He looked peaceful.”
Together the family reminisced, recalling happy memories of Michael while consoling each other through their grief.
Meanwhile, the children comforted each other.
Fossett added, “It was a somber mood. Even though he’s this big entertainer, he’s still our family.”
After the family had their private time with Michael to say their final words, the casket was taken to the Staples Center to share with the fans who made him famous.
