Former Miss Kentucky Sentenced To Prison After Claiming She 'Accidentally' Exchanged Nude Photos With Teen Student

Miss Kentucky Ramsey Carpenter-Bearse Sentenced Nude Photos Teen

We’ve seen plenty of beauty pageant scandals involving nude photos of the contestants over the years — but not one quite like this.

No, Ramsey Carpenter-Bearse‘s photos didn’t get her in trouble before her crowning or during her reign as Miss Kentucky 2014. They got her imprisoned years later.

After her pageant days Ramsey became a middle school teacher in West Virginia — and that’s when she took the photos which lost her more than her title.

According to a 2018 press release, Carpenter-Bearse was arrested after she “sent obscene photographs of herself to a 15-year-old who was a former student of hers at Andrew Jackson Middle School.”

Apparently the student’s parents found the photographs, which had been sent via Snapchat but were screen-grabbed on his phone. It turned out it was an exchange of pics as Carpenter-Bearse pleaded guilty in December to one count of possessing material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct. In her guilty plea she said:

“Since I am the adult, and he was just a teenager, it is my fault, and I accept full blame for the situation. So that’s how I’m guilty of this crime. I messed up big-time.”

Not the most contrite plea we’ve heard but much better than her previous defense.

The 29-year-old was first charged with four counts of sending obscene material to a minor. She initially claimed the first photo was an accident and was supposed to go to her husband but was sent to the former student on accident. As for the subsequent photos? Well, she says he asked for more, and she was “afraid to not appease him.”

Carpenter-Bearse has now been sentenced to two years in prison and ten years of supervised release — and of course she’ll have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life. (She was suspended from her teaching job during the investigation and obviously will never be able to do so again.)

Back before all this, before she was married, Ramsey Carpenter won the hearts of judges in the Miss Kentucky AND Miss America pageants — ultimately placing in the top 12 — by playing the fiddle and speaking about the hardship of her multiple sclerosis diagnosis. She went on to become a spokesperson for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, though we’re guessing she won’t be invited to any more speaking gigs in the future.
