Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers Under Fire For 'Normalized Xenophobia' In Social Media Videos

Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers xenophobia

There’s a new pageant controversy sweeping the world, and it’s nothing the United States can be proud of…
Miss Universe is all set go down this week with a winner crowned live from the Philippines on Sunday, and a social media video has gone viral of Miss USA 2018, Sarah Rose Summers, sitting with two other pageant contestants and seemingly bullying other women in the show.

Summers, who’s talking to the camera in the now-viral clip on Instagram, appears to be sitting with Miss Australia (Francesca Hung) and Miss Colombia (Valeria Morales) when she discusses how two contestants — Miss Vietnam (H’Hen Nie) and Miss Cambodia (Rern Sinat) don’t speak English.
Watch the video (below):

If you didn’t catch it, Sarah mocked Miss Vietnam for seemingly not understanding a question asked in English:

“She’s so cute and she pretends to know so much English and then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she goes [nods and smiles]. She’s adorable.”

And when talking about their other peer, she added:

“Miss Cambodia is here and doesn’t speak any English and not a single other person speaks her language. Can you imagine?. Francesca said that would be so isolating and I said yes and just confusing all the time. Poor Cambodia.”

Check out another edit/overlay here (below), calling out Summers for her “normalized xenophobia”:

Wow!!!
