Mikayla Matthews knows Taylor Frankie Paul well enough at this point to recognize that her co-star tends to sabotage herself!
The MomTok star appeared on the Comments by Celebs podcast on Tuesday, along with her best friend/other co-star Mayci Neeley, to discuss all the drama that went down on Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. (To note, they recorded the episode BEFORE all of the shocking domestic dispute allegations about Taylor and Dakota Mortensen dropped.) And one of the main topics to come up? Taylor’s now-cancelled season of The Bachelorette.

At one point during the episode, hosts Emma Diamond and Julie Kramer mentioned that the cast seemed “more concerned with The Bachelorette of it all” than Taylor did. To which both Mayci and Mikayla agreed! However, that is nothing new to them! As Mikayla pointed out:
“I think that’s kind of been a common theme with her.”
Mikayla thinks that “anyone who’s going through a stressful period of time in their life” might react the same way, adding:
“It’s hard for me to focus on these things, where Mayci would be like, ‘Oh my gosh, Mikayla, this is so important. Focus on this’ … And I feel like that’s kind of what we do with Taylor. Of course, we always want the best for our friends and opportunities.”
Mikayla, Mayci, and the rest of the cast just wanted Taylor to get away from Dakota and find someone else! However, after watching Season 4, almost everyone can probably agree now that she wasn’t ready to go on The Bachelorette. She literally hooked up with her baby daddy a few times on the season, including the night before she left for filming! Girl was not over him!
Mikayla feels Taylor is “ruining” all these opportunities she gets for Dakota or other men. Oof. While she and the others want to see Taylor succeed and be happy, she believes the 31-year-old reality star is just stuck in such a “toxic cycle” with her baby daddy:
“Taylor’s been in this way for a while, that she’s been ruining her opportunities for Dakota, for these men, because she’s not healed. I think it kind of showed that side of us just wanting to be good friends. Like, have this opportunity, get your healing, be happy. And for her, it’s like she’s still stuck in this toxic cycle with Dakota.”
And unfortunately, Mikayla wasn’t wrong. Taylor ruined her season of The Bachelorette. As we mentioned, the show got cancelled on Thursday — just days before the premiere. It’s all because there’s an active investigation into an alleged domestic assault involving Taylor and Dakota, which also halted production on the fifth season of Mormon Wives. Plus, footage dropped of the content creator brutally attacking Dakota and hitting her daughter with a metal barstool during a domestic violence incident back in 2023, which led to her arrest.
