The mother-in-law of the man detained in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie is coming to his defense!
As we reported on Wednesday morning, Carlos Alberto Palazuelos was detained during a traffic stop in Rio Rico, Arizona, which is about an hour away from Tucson, while he was doing DoorDash deliveries near his home with his wife and kids. Police also searched the residence belonging to his mother-in-law, Josefina Maddox, and took their phones.

Now, Josefina is insisting that Carlos is innocent. She claimed to NewsNation on Tuesday that her son-in-law was home when Savannah Guthrie‘s mom was abducted. Josefina said Carlos and his wife are currently living with her after being evicted from their residence and are waiting for their tax refund to be able to move out, adding:
“My daughter and he, and the kids, my grandkids, were doing DoorDash when they got stopped here. They already asked us a lot of questions about him. Like I said, I have nothing to hide. You can go in my house. You can search anything you want. There’s nothing to hide. I don’t know the lady, I don’t know about the lady. I saw her (missing) on Facebook.”
Josefina swore Carlos is a “good guy” with no criminal record or history of violence. When shown surveillance photos of the suspect on Nancy’s doorbell camera, she denied any resemblance and said she’s “positive” he was at home when the 84-year-old disappeared:
“On the weekends, he stays at my house. He doesn’t go nowhere.”
According to Josefina, he also didn’t sneak out in the night because his van is currently broken. At this time, Carlos has not been charged with anything. Watch the interview (below):
A tip line has been set up: see HERE. The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie, and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
