MTV is said to be reviving their famous Unplugged series in collaboration with Starburst candies. Stop scratching your head, it’s about to make sense.
The revival will be across the cable board of MTV networks, meaning there will be an edition on MTV, VH1, CMT and streaming over their respective websites. Slated for the first round of acoustic performances will be Adam Lambert on VH1, Phoenix on MTV and Reba McEntire on CMT on March 10th.
What separates the series from the original (and explains the Starburst tie-in) is the addition of an unexpected performance of a cover song or other contradictory musical moment. This moment syncs up with Starburst’s new tagline “It’s a juicy contradiction.”
Oh the cleverness of marketing!
If nothing else, we are happy to hear a little music will be returning to the network. It is way overdue!
