Stephanie Pratt Changes Her Mind About Spencer's Run For LA Mayor, Says She Was 'Wrong' About Not Supporting Him!

Stephanie Pratt is eating a whole lot of crow right now — and honestly, we did not have this plot twist on our celebrity politics bingo card!

After dragging her brother Spencer Pratt’s campaign for Los Angeles mayor, The Hills alum is suddenly singing a very different tune. And not quietly, either! Stephanie is now publicly admitting she got it completely wrong when it came to doubting her controversial sibling’s political ambitions in El Lay. Seriously!

In a new statement emailed first over to Vanity Fair on Wednesday, Stephanie made a shocking confession about her previous criticism of Spencer’s campaign, saying:

“I admit I was the first person to tell people that they were idiots if they voted for my brother. Wow, was I wrong.”

Whoa!!!

Considering how she trashed him earlier this year, this reversal is seriously jaw-dropping. Back in February, Stephanie absolutely torched Spencer’s mayoral run on social media, accusing him of chasing headlines and clinging to fame rather than actually helping Los Angeles.

At the time, she insisted the city needed “someone competent” and even took a nasty swipe at some of his past controversies by referencing old allegations about cult involvement. Yeah…

But now??? Stephanie says Spencer’s actions after the devastating Palisades Fire completely changed her opinion. The reality TV personality praised her brother for diving deep into what went wrong surrounding the deadly wildfire disaster that destroyed homes — including Spencer and Heidi Montag’s own property.

She added:

“He has spent every day since the fires, finding the facts, the mistakes, the negligence and uncovering the truth that they never wanted us to know.”

That is a MASSIVE turnaround from someone who once accused him of simply “playing government”!

As Perezcious readers will no doubt recall, Spencer first announced his campaign on January 7, marking the one-year anniversary of the catastrophic fires that tore through Pacific Palisades and Altadena. The tragedy left 12 people dead and fueled outrage across Los Angeles over emergency response failures and city leadership. Since then, Spencer has positioned himself as an anti-establishment candidate determined to expose corruption and incompetence inside City Hall.

And people are actually taking him seriously. The reality star has managed to pull support from some surprising celebrity names, too. Katharine McPhee and David Foster have both publicly backed his campaign efforts, even helping raise awareness for his mayoral push. Pretty incredible in such a short time!

But… not everyone in Hollywood is buying what Spencer is selling. Drew Carey recently unloaded on the former reality star in a fiery Threads rant, blasting anyone supporting his candidacy and calling him a “serial scammer without a soul or moral compass.” Lisa Rinna has also expressed opposition to the campaign, as well — proving this race is becoming one of the messiest celebrity political battles LA has seen in years.

Still, Spencer appears determined to lean into the chaos. In speeches promoting his campaign, he has repeatedly argued that Los Angeles leadership has failed ordinary residents and protected elites instead of helping communities devastated by disaster.

Whether voters actually hand him the keys to City Hall remains to be seen. But one thing is crystal clear: now his own sister is no longer standing in his way.
