Social Media Calls 'BS' On Sheriff Saying They're Closer To Solving Nancy Guthrie Case!

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has haunted Arizona for more than three months now, and finally, there could soon be a major break in the heartbreaking case — but does social media believe it??

As we’ve been reporting, on Friday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos gave the briefest update imaginable while speaking to a Fox News reporter outside the department headquarters. But wow, it was enough to send shockwaves through everyone following this terrifying mystery.

As the investigation creeps closer to the 100-day mark, the reporter asked the sheriff if authorities were any closer to solving what happened to Savannah Guthrie’s mom. Nanos’ answer, which we first reported over the weekend, was simple and shocking:

“We are.”

That’s it. Two words. But honestly, those two words are HUGE considering how painfully quiet investigators have been for weeks.

And now, first off, there’s video of that exchange. You can see it (below):

But… social media ain’t buying it. Nanos’ reaction created a firestorm across the internet over the weekend, with tons of commenters sharing a LOT of skepticism about whether the Pima County law enforcement folks are actually anywhere close to solving the case.

As you can see (below), people did NOT hold back with their opinions:

“Nearly 100 days is too long. Hope that progress means they find her soon. Heart goes out to her family.”

“BS”

“100 days too late for this incompetent whiner! He should have had the FBI on it immediately.”

“Pathetic failure! What an ignorant, egotistical old fool, too little too late! He needs to be fired!”

“Making progress, what a pile of garbage, it shouldn’t take this long.”

“Nanos is, was, and continues to be useless in law enforcement.”

“After 100 days of investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie with no solid leads or suspects, it is not progressing or showing results.”

“100 days is a lifetime in an abduction case. Making progress sounds like damage control for a stalled investigation.”

As Perezcious readers know, Nancy vanished way back near the start of the year, when authorities in Tucson believe the 84-year-old was abducted from her home during the early morning hours of February 1. Even more chilling, surveillance footage captured a masked man lurking outside the residence not long before she disappeared. This whole story has sounded like something out of a crime thriller from the very beginning, except tragically, it’s all too real.

Investigators previously revealed that blood identified as Nancy’s was discovered outside the home. Authorities also recovered other DNA, which has reportedly been undergoing testing for months. Meanwhile, Today Show host Savannah has continued sharing emotional messages about her mother while trying to balance her very public career on daytime TV with unimaginable personal pain behind the scenes.

And the FBI remains heavily involved in the investigation, as well. They are offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to Nancy’s discovery or an arrest. The Guthrie family has gone even further, putting up a staggering $1 million reward in hopes someone finally comes forward. They also donated $500,000 to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children amid the ongoing search efforts.

At this point, let’s just hope some answers come soon…

Savannah Guthrie and her family are offering up to $1 million for information that leads to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie. NOTE: The family reward of up to $1 million will be paid only for recovery of Nancy Guthrie, consistent with FBI criteria for payment of its reward in this case: https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/kidnap/nancy-guthrie
