Like Michael Phelps‘s retention of his Speedo sponsorship post-bong photo, Nike is standing by Serena Williams despite her unsportsmanlike conduct last week at the US Open.
A spokeswoman for the athletic-wear powerhouse said, “She has publicly apologized and has stated she let her emotions get the best of her. Nike stands behind Serena and looks forward to her outstanding career continuing.”
Still, some are concerned that this sets a standard of bad behavior without repercussions.
