LAPD Arrests Victim Shot In Nipsey Hussle Murder For Ties To The Rapper -- A 'Known Gang Member'

Nipsey Hussle

This just seems wrong…
One of the victims who was shot incidentally during Nipsey Hussle‘s murder in south Los Angeles last month has been arrested by the LAPD for associating with Nipsey — a “known gang member” — and thus, violating his parole.

According to TMZ, one of the victims shot during the incident was a 56-year-old man named Kerry Lathan who was shot in the back, taken to the hospital, treated, and released.
But five days after the shooting, Lathan was arrested by cops at his halfway house where he lives, because the man — who is out on parole now after having served 20 years for murder previously — violated his parole by associating with Nipsey, a “known gang member.”
Cops claim that since Nipsey had been a member of the Rollin 60’s Crip gang, that Lathan had violated his parole by being at the Marathon Clothing Store which Nipsey owned in south Los Angeles. Wait, what the hell is going on?!
Even the LAPD lauded the rapper as a man working hard to re-build gang-ravaged communities in south Los Angeles over the past several decades… so how can that same department then turn around and punish a man for being in the vicinity of Nipsey and his supposed gang ties???

Regardless, Lathan is currently locked up at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles, where authorities are apparently going to try to revoke his parole and send him back to prison. To add insult to injury (or, vice versa), Lathan is still in a wheelchair as he recovers from the shooting, and he’s been unable to walk since then as he tries to rest and seek treatment for the wound.
Now, the 56-year-old may be facing quite a bit of time in jail ahead of him, all because he was shot at the clothing store where Nipsey was murdered. Pretty ironic considering Nipsey was seen as such a force for good in the community… right up until cops realized they could use the rapper’s own unfortunate past to bust another shooting victim and take away that man’s freedom.
This was a shameful and extremely tone-deaf decision, LAPD!
