Ohio Country Fights Extreme Pill Addiction Rate

Ohio├óΓé¼Γäós Scioto County is having some serious problems — specifically, one in 10 babies were born addicted to drugs last year and rehab admissions and prescriptions for painkiller addictions were five times the national average.

Wow.

Things are so bad that the health commissioner declared a public health emergency.

“I would describe it as if a pharmaceutical atomic bomb went off,” said Lisa Roberts, a nurse for the health department in Portsmouth.

Many are attributing this problem to ├óΓé¼┼ôpill mills├óΓé¼┬¥ — doctors and clinics who prescribe powerful pain medications as though they were candy.

Pain medication is not something to mess around with! If you are prescribed it, use only what you need and properly dispose of the rest! Don’t take any chances!
