When did Olivia Wilde become so wise?!
In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, the actress waxed poetic on how she feels “more fulfilled” than ever now that she’s in her thirties.
In fact, the actress claims that she’s FINALLY living for herself!

Elaborating on the “freedom” that comes with having turned 30, the actress gushed:

“At 30, it’s not a lack of awareness of consequences, but I think it’s another biological, evolutionary shift that allows you to break away from the tribe. And to be yourself. And to live for yourself. And I think it’s maybe designed so that you will be an elder, maybe it’s designed so you can be a parent but, you know, you don’t have to be. The point is that you then are free to make whatever decision you want. If you think about it, we’re still living by these biological patterns that were designed to allow us to survive├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥I mean we were all going to die by 30 anyway. Maybe that’s what it is! At 30, the reason we feel this release is because we’re supposed to be dead. This is our, like├óΓé¼┬ªour afterlife.”

Wow, how deep! Considering the momma seems more comfortable in her skin than ever, we’re totally behind this concept that anything past 30 is like the afterlife!
Additionally, despite the responsibilities that comes with motherhood and her marriage to Jason Sudeikis the Vinyl star emphasized:

“I remember a good friend saying to me, now isn’t it relaxing that you don’t have to be perfect? And I thought, that is something that happens for everyone, not just for professionals. At the end of your twenties, you realize you are inherently flawed, and that’s great, and that’s what makes you dynamic. For me, personally, it was around 27 when that kind of return to self took place, of living for myself, not living to keep up expectations. You know, I think you go from living for your parents to your peers, maybe back to your parents, maybe to your employer├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥You go through all these stages of living for other people, and I think at 30 you say, it’s my life and I live it for me.”

Yes, girl! More often than not we become so focused on this unattainable idea of “perfection” that we forget to just LIVE!
And at 27, Olivia shared:

“I got a divorce, and I felt like I finally started my career. I started making movies and projects that I just really believed in. I remember a good friend saying to me, now isn’t it relaxing that you don’t have to be perfect? And I thought, that is something that happens for everyone, not just for professionals. At the end of your twenties, you realize you are inherently flawed, and that’s great, and that’s what makes you dynamic. For me, personally, it was around 27 when that kind of return to self took place, of living for myself, not living to keep up expectations. You know, I think you go from living for your parents to your peers, maybe back to your parents, maybe to your employer├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥You go through all these stages of living for other people, and I think at 30 you say, it’s my life and I live it for me.”

We can’t wait to see what Olivia comes up with now that she’s trying out directing! Get it!
As for the advice she’d give her 13-year-old, she confessed:

“You will live beyond 25. So there’s no reason to rush. Every thirteen-year-old is like, get it all in! Experience everything! I was reading that the brain at four years old acknowledges, for the first time, consequences. That, you know, if I fall off this bed I will hurt myself, and if I cut myself it will hurt├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥four years old is when you understand consequences, and that’s obviously biologically driven for survival. At 16, the brain evolves to lose awareness of consequences. Now biologically it’s designed so that you’ll like leave the tribe and go into a lion den, or you will you know to trek through the jungle and risk your life to spread civilization. So now, that’s why 16-year-olds have zero awareness of consequences, and they’re like ‘I’ll get in a car with a drunk driver,’ ‘I will body surf in this mosh pit,’ ‘I’ll get a tattoo,’ whatever it is. And that’s an important moment in life because it does allow you to break away from the family tribe, break away from the safe place and develop your personality.
I think the same thing happens at 30. At 30, it’s not a lack of awareness of consequences, but I think it’s another biological, evolutionary shift that allows you to break away from the tribe.
