Here’s the worst grandpa you’ll read about all day!
A 53-year-old Arizona man apparently decided eating and getting drunk were more important than his granddaughter; because he abandoned her in an extremely dangerous situation while he indulged!
Paul Rater had been taking the five-year-old for a ride in his new pickup truck when he decided he wanted some beer and a burger.

So naturally he left her alone under a tree in the middle of the Arizona desert… with a gun!!!
He reportedly gave the five-year-old a .45-caliber handgun, and as authorities would later learn, it was cocked in a ready-to-fire position!! AWFUL!!!
According to authorities, the little girl was confused about why she was being left on the side of the road:
“I don’t know why papa left me. I was calling out for him. He took me by some bushes, gave me a gun and left me.”
Rater claims his truck got stuck, forcing the pair to walk. He says he only abandoned her under a tree after she was unable to keep walking… yet when he was eventually tracked down, it was at a store eating a cheeseburger and drinking beer.

Rater has been charged with two counts of child abuse, and one count of child endangerment.
He is REALLY lucky this wasn’t a much worse story considering he gave the girl a loaded, cocked gun. What is wrong with people??
