Pete Davidson just can’t quit — but he’s a comedian; that’s his job!
Though the Saturday Night Live star may be privately working through his breakup with former fiancee Ariana Grande with the help of family and friends, one other thing has also gotten him past tough times: the ability to laugh about it all!

And while that natural humor has irked Ariana to the point of frustration at times, Pete seems set on continuing to make jokes about his former relationship, if only to further help himself cope.
A source spoke to ET about the situation Pete is facing right now, saying (below):
“His friends think he is embarrassed by the breakup and that he has to overcompensate by making jokes about their relationship, because, days before they split, he was saying they would never break up.”
Yeah, that’s an issue considering how close those two were when they were together… but another source argues things aren’t quite that deep for Pete right now (below):
“He’s obviously hurt it didn’t work out but is doing his best to move on. Anyone would be hurt after an engagement was broken off. Pete joked about him and Ariana [when they were together]. So joking about breaking up and their relationship is not new.”
That’s what comedians do, after all, isn’t it?! Write little bits of their own life stories and experiences into their jokes???

Regardless, that second source also points out that Ariana’s anger about Pete supposedly seeking “relevancy” is misplaced, noting (below):
“Ariana tweeted about their breakup right after the split; why is she allowed to address it publicly, and he’s not? Seems like a double standard. He is working to move on, like anyone else would be.”
Amen!!
Something tells us we haven’t heard the last of the fallout between these two, though…
