Prince William and Kate Middleton are taking the environmentally and socially cautious route!
On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were spotted getting off a commercial budget flight in Aberdeen, Scotland as the couple and their three kids arrived in the country for an end-of-summer vacation.
The family’s trip comes just days after critics slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for taking a reported six private jet flights for their recent trips, including a seaside vacation in Nice, France with baby Archie.

According to reports, the family of five — including Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — took an 8:45 A.M. flight from Norwich to Aberdeen on an economy FlyBe plane. The British airline is one of Europe’s largest regional airlines offering a wide range of flight destinations across the continent.
According to a passenger who spotted them on the aircraft, the royal family kept it pretty low-key. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the traveler shared:
“The family were sat right at the front. I fly this route all the time and we were none the wiser. No one knew they were on the flight. Later on, I realized that Kate’s mother was sat a few rows in front of me.”
A different passenger dished on the rare sighting to The Sun, adding:
“Earlier in the flight, I’d had the feeling that someone had come on the plane that I’d recognized – but I thought it was just a footballer. We landed, and people then saw two black Range Rovers on the tarmac.
Suddenly, Will, Kate, and the kids all got up and left. They weren’t harassed by anyone at all as they got off the plane. They just seemed like a family travelling together, to be honest. No one saw them get on the plane either. It was amazing how they did it — they must have slipped on quietly after people were already seated.”
Wow.
Just imagine this scenario for yourselves, Perezcious readers. The Duke and Duchess just casually chilling in business class, you know, like normal people! LOLz.
Reports claim a ticket for the cross-country journey costs only £73 British pounds, which rounds out to a little less than $90 USD per person. Considering the affordable price tag and the environmentally self-aware decision to ditch the private jet this time around, we’re not sure how the British foreign press can take issue with this move!
As we mentioned, this all comes while Meg and Harry continue to feel the heat for their use of privately chartered planes for their business and pleasure.
Some folks (read: almost every single British news outlet) have claimed the couple’s apparent frivolous trips seem to contradict their stance on protecting the environment. Royal experts said the British public do not want to be “lectured on climate change by those who don’t do follow their own advice.”
Ouch.
Critics may truly have a point here, as the Sussexes latest journey trip to France to visit singer Elton John was made possible by a 12-seater Cessna aircraft.
There are reportedly 20 scheduled commercial flights from London to Nice every Wednesday costing as little as £100 each. The Cessna plane would have cost more than £20,000 to hire, meaning Harry and Meghan could have taken 200 flights to Nice for the same price.
This information makes the whole thing sound even worse when you consider the scope of the couple’s carbon footprint. And, the timing of it all totally makes Will and Kate look better in the eyes of the people! Do we detect a little shade here? Hm…
The Rocket Man singer, who’s actually a longtime friend and confidant of the late Princess Diana, passionately defended the pair and refuted the notion they weren’t mindful of their environmental decisions.
On Twitter, the 72-year-old singer wrote:
“To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint.
I highly respect and applaud both Harry and Meghan’s commitment to charity and I’m calling on the press to cease these relentless and untrue assassinations on their character that are spuriously crafted on an almost daily basis.”
Following his vocal support, Pink and Ellen DeGeneres are among those who also voiced their support publicly.
