Chicago Police Rush To R. Kelly’s Apartment After Receiving Alleged 'Suicide Pact' Call

Police respond to R. Kelly alleged sucide pact

Chicago Police have conducted a wellness check at R. Kelly’s Trump Tower condo in response to a call that his girlfriends were attempting to carry out a “suicide pact.”
In a police radio call on Tuesday evening, an anonymous caller can be heard telling officers that the disgraced singer’s girlfriend Azriel Clary and “four other women, who are victims of R. Kelly are planning to carry out a suicide pact at one of the condos at Trump Tower.”
Emergency responders arrived at the scene just before 5:30 p.m. to conduct a wellness check. Thankfully, it turned out to be a false alarm.

The Chicago Police Department said in a statement:

“Police received a call from an out of state anonymous caller stating that people at the location were going to carry out a suicide pact. Police on scene conducting a wellness check and it is not a bonafide incident.”

Kelly’s crisis manager blasted the suicide pact reports as “fake,” telling E! News:

“He’s fine. He’s getting ready [to] rehearse and sing some songs.”

We’re glad police took the call seriously, because this isn’t the first warning of a suicide pact possibly going down between Kelly and his girlfriends.
Before the release of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly series in January, one of the Grammy winner’s early alleged victims, Lizzette Martinez, claimed that the 52-year-old had a suicide pact with the women living in his house.
She told People at the time:

“I was the beginning of the predatory behavior. I was… I met him after he married Aaliyah. I had it bad but what I hear today is that he’s taking this to a whole other level and I’m so worried about the young women in the house… I hear there’s a plan in place. That he’s put it in place that if something goes down they’re all going to take pills and kill… I just can’t.”

We hope and pray this isn’t true, because, sadly, it isn’t that unbelievable.
Last week, Clary and Kelly’s other girlfriend Joycelyn Savage came to his defense in an interview with Gayle King, claiming that they are in happy, consensual relationships with the singer.
Savage’s parents later told King they still believe their daughter has been brainwashed by the artist and is constantly being coached on what to say whenever they have seemingly monitored phone calls with her.
Her family is still hoping to arrange a face-to-face meeting with their daughter, whom they haven’t seen in over two years, and are planning to bring along a psychologist to evaluate the 23-year-old.

Kelly, meanwhile, is expected to appear in court Wednesday in Chicago for his child support case. His ex-wife, Drea Kelly, is also due to appear in court.
As we reported, the artist was arrested last week for failing to pay over $161,000 owed to Drea in child support. He was later released from the Cook County jail after making the payment with the help of a “benefactor.”
Kelly is also due back in court on March 22 regarding his sexual abuse charges. Last month, he was charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse after new allegations surfaced against him. At least three women claim they were minors when Kelly sexually assaulted them.
The singer pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
