Damn. Yet another bombshell from Ione Skye‘s memoir!
The Say Anything star dropped her memoir, cutely titled Say Everything, this week, and it’s full of stories of hookups with co-stars and supermodels, including a very sad Friends alum. But this story is the most messed up so far!
Ione claims she started dating Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis when she was just 16 years old! He would have been about 24 or 25 at the time. Ick!

Crazy story? Ione revealed on her Instagram recently she was actually the original model for the Mother’s Milk album cover! The actress says they replaced her because they thought she looked “a little young”! Just, you know, not too young for Kiedis to actually sleep with apparently!
Not only that, she wasn’t having safe sex with him!
“Other people in our group had unsafe sex and they were fine, I kept telling myself, using my teenage reasoning. Of course, I could see how irresponsible we were being. Whether Anthony could see it too, he obviously wasn’t ready to grow up, to take care of himself and others, to make real adult choices.”
There was even an HIV scare once because they had sex while he was using heroin — and sharing needles we guess? Oh, plus he cheated on her! So yeah, just all sorts of messed up. Especially considering his bandmate Hillel Slovak died of a heroin overdose. She says she was with him when this happened, and upon hearing the awful news… Kiedis shot up. Oof.
Ione writes how her mom saw a needle mark in her arm and worried her daughter was using, too — and was a little relieved to hear it was just the jab from the HIV test. She recalls:
“The whole time I was with Anthony, I think she was equal parts both— relieved I was still okay, and terrified I wouldn’t be.”
Thankfully, the HIV tests came back negative. But she did face that other big consequence she was warned about when it comes to unsafe sex. At just 17 years old, she got pregnant.
Ione admits she “was the type of girl who’d wanted a baby since I was a baby, who used to fantasize about finding a swaddled infant on my doorstep or catching a flying ghost baby with a butterfly net”:
“But fantasizing was different from seeing. I couldn’t see having a baby at this point. I would not have a baby at 17, with someone who didn’t want to be a dad, wouldn’t commit to me and had anger issues. Not to mention the heroin.”
And not with this guy!
Kiedis, ever the gentleman, paid for her abortion at a clinic in Beverly Hills. And she even recalls how he gave her a ride… and “guiltily” dropped her off at the curb. Maybe he just didn’t want to be seen with a teenager?
Though that seems a stretch for Kiedis. After all, this is the guy who wrote in his own memoir about having sex with a 14-year-old runaway! Yes, really!
The Scar Tissue Story
In 2004’s Scar Tissue, he wrote about doing a show in New Orleans and meeting a groupie:
“We had finished the set when a loved young woman wandered into our dressing room. She had bleached-blond hair and fire-engine-red lips and giant eyelashes that made her look like a reincarnated southern version of Marilyn Monroe. As I was prone to do at that time, I made my move before anyone else could even talk to her. I grabbed her hand and pulled her into the bathroom and asked her if she could keep me company while I took a shower.
Once I got into the shower, she went into an impeccable rendition of Marilyn singing “Happy Birthday” to JFK. I got out of that shower ready to go. She immediately threw off her cloths and we made love on the floor. I had known thie girl for five minutes, but I was certain of my affection for her. We spent the night together, and I found out more about her, including the fact that she went to Catholic school. (She would be the inspiration for a later song, Catholic School Girls Rule.)”
Catholic School Girls Rule came out in 1985, so this incident likely took place around 1984 — when Kiedis would have been about 19. Very important for the next part of the anecdote:
“The next day we drove to Baton Rouge, and of course she came with us. After we got offstage, she came up to me and said, ‘I have something to tell you. My father’s the chief of police and the entire state of Louisiana is looking for me because I’ve gone missing. Oh and besides that, I’m only fourteen.'”
This should have been a stomach-dropping moment. He was young at the time, but not young enough he shouldn’t have been disgusted at what he just learned he’d done. But even as a 40-year-old looking back on it, he makes sure to let you know he was super chill with it:
“I wasn’t incredibly scared, because in my somewhat deluded mind, I knew that if she told the chief of police she was in love with me, he wasn’t going to have me taken out to a field and shot, but I did want to get her the hell back home right away.”
And here’s the ickiest part:
“So we had sex one more time, and she gave me an interesting compliment that I never forgot. She said, ‘When you make love to me, it’s like you’re a professional.’ I told her that she should give herself a little time and she’d realize that it was because she didn’t have much to compare it to. And I put her on a bus and sent her back to New Orleans.”
They HAD SEX ONE MORE TIME! After he knew she was 14! Gross.
