One of music’s many mysteries: SOLVED!
The famous — and arguably most beautiful — Red Hot Chili Peppers track Under The Bridge chronicles a day in frontman Anthony Kiedis├óΓé¼Γäó life when his struggle with hard drugs became a fight for survival.
Anthony has never revealed the location of the elusive bridge mentioned in the heartfelt tune, but recent investigations seem to have pinpointed the mystery structure!

The infamous arch sits in Downtown Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park and links 6th and Union (below)!
Mark Haskell Smith, who was responsible for the discovery, writes:
├óΓé¼┼ôIt is a pleasant space, with palm trees and benches, grassy areas for picnics, a small lake, and paths for strolling. It├óΓé¼Γäós hard to imagine that when the lake was drained in 1978, workers discovered hundreds of discarded handguns and knives rusting in the mud. I walked toward the lake and discovered a small pedestrian tunnel underneath Wilshire Boulevard, which bisects the park into north and south. It’s not much of a span ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥although Caltrans would define it as a bridge ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and instead of looking like some dark and forbidding portal to hell, it was painted with graffiti in the form of a friendly octopus. Inside, it looked like a school art project had been painted over decades of tagging, layers of violent history under a family friendly mural. It might be clean and safe and have a happy octopus, but not that long ago it was the stomping ground of gangbangers and dope slingers.├óΓé¼┬¥
