On Sunday, Mexican gymnast Alexa Moreno competed in the artistic gymnastics qualifications at the Rio Olympics.
The 22-year-old is one of the few athletes representing Mexico in a category where the country rarely participates.
And even though the athlete has accomplished much more with her body than most can dream of, that didn’t stop internet trolls from body shaming Moreno — who is 4’11” and 99 lbs. — on Twitter!

After Moreno placed 31st IN THE WORLD in the women’s all-around qualifying round — which includes uneven bars, floor exercise, beam, and vault — a few Twitics thought it would be funny to hurl public insults about her weight and figure:
“‘My dream is to win one of those hot dog eating contests.’ ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£Alexa Moreno.”
“I won’t be able to make fun of Alexa Moreno because her smartphone is a Casio calculator with no social media.”
“Alexa Moreno, another example of pseudo ‘athletes’ sent by the CONADE just to fill the quota.”
One particular degenerate — who has since deleted his tweet — actually went so far as to post a picture of a cartoon pig, claiming it was “Exclusive images of Alexa Moreno at the end of her gymnastic routine”:
Thankfully, Moreno’s supporters were quick to silence the haters, celebrating her performance as well as the rare occasion of having a Mexican athlete competing in the category:
