Ryan Reynolds was called out in Justin Baldoni‘s New York Times lawsuit for allegedly “berating” him for “fat-shaming” Blake Lively… but did that really happen??
As to be expected at this point, there’s apparently a totally different version of this story!
First, let’s recap Justin’s side. In his filing on Tuesday, he claims the Deadpool star became very “aggressive” and accused him “of fat-shaming” the Gossip Girl star. While Blake has alleged several instances in which her It Ends With Us co-star/director was supposedly making all kinds of comments about her body and appearance, Justin really only broke down one icky incident — a time he asked their mutual personal trainer what she weighs.

He claimed it was all to avoid worsening a back injury during a scene in the movie in which he had to lift her, but when word got back to Ryan, he was reportedly pissed. During a meeting at the couple’s NYC home, Justin alleged celeb pals were coming and going as Ryan lit into him, his lawyers wrote:
“The confrontation that followed was so aggressive that Baldoni felt compelled to offer repeated apologies, despite his question being entirely reasonable and made in good faith.”
Kinda sounds like Ryan did what any loving husband would do, stuck up for his wife — who’d just recently given birth — amid inappropriate commentary about her appearance. But Justin (supposedly just looking out for his health and well-being) thought it was all over the top. So, this brings us back to the big question: was it?!
On Thursday, a source who was in the meeting between the couple and director told TMZ there was NEVER any screaming or berating! The insider claimed the meeting took place last January, just as filming for the movie was set to resume after various strikes. Everyone in attendance allegedly knew that Justin’s behavior was going to be addressed in the formal conversation, so it’s not like he was blindsided.
As for Ryan’s behavior, the confidant insists he was never screaming or berating the Jane the Virgin alum. Instead, he was “angry and stern” and spoke in an “impassioned” way — but he never rose his voice to an extreme level. Sounds pretty reasonable given the circumstances — well, to everyone but Justin! He claimed being called out on his behavior was “traumatic” and that he had “never been spoken to like that in his life,” he noted in his suit. Hmm.
Last but not least, the insider also hit back at Justin’s claim that other celebs were milling about in the home at the time of the meeting. While it was at Blake and Ryan’s home, the source argued no other celebs were coming and going. So, essentially, this insider is calling BS on this whole portion of Justin’s suit!
