On Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 34-year-old opened up about her EPIC proposal, where the Saturday Night Live writer pulled out all the stops!

She dished:

“He did [do it in a romantic way], he killed it… It was a very James Bond situation. It was surprising. He’s got a lot behind that news desk he’s hiding.”

While gushing about the “Weekend Update” anchor, the thespian continued:

“He’s very charming and very thoughtful and romantic. I was surprised, even if you imagine what that moment is going to be like, it’s still, it’s a beautiful moment.”

Though the two had “talked about” an engagement, the moment was a total surprise.

“It was very personal… It was a very special moment and I think more than anything, when someone tells you they want to share the rest of their life with you, it’s a lovely, special thing.”

When asked about their wedding date, Miz Johansson quipped:

“I have to clear my schedule first.”

She was previously married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011, and journalist Romain Dauriac from 2014 to 2017. She shares a 5-year-old daughter, Rose, with the latter.

Last month, the leading lady made headlines when she defended Woody Allen, who was accused of molesting adopted daughter Dylan Farrow in the ’90s. She exclaimed to The Hollywood Reporter:

“How do I feel about Woody Allen? I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him any time.”

Johansson added:

“I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it. I have been very direct with him, and he’s very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him.”

However, she understands why people criticize her support for the director.

“It’s hard because it’s a time where people are very fired up, and understandably. Things needed to be stirred up, and so people have a lot of passion and a lot of strong feelings and are angry, and rightfully so. It’s an intense time.”

In response, Dylan wrote on Twitter:

“Because if we’ve learned anything from the past two years it’s that you definitely should believe male predators who ‘maintain their innocence’ without question. Scarlett has a long way to go in understanding the issue she claims to champion.”
