Week three and things are really starting to pick up!
More than 700 protesters a part of the Occupy Wall Street movement were arrested late last night in New York for demonstrating on the Brooklyn Bridge. The police were called to diffuse the situation as the protestors took to the car lanes of the bridge and caused massive traffic delays.
According to reports, only protestors that were marching in the street – not the pedestrian walkways – were arrested, but people on the scene say that the police initially gave permission for the protestors to walk in the street. One such protestor explains:
├óΓé¼┼ôWe were peacefully walking on the top, on the wooden part, where we├óΓé¼Γäóre supposed to, until directed by the New York City police to go down into the street area.”
Don’t know how that miscommunication could’ve happened. Seems so illogical to have the police specifically ask them to walk in the street, only to arrest them upon doing so. So strange.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of any injury or physical altercations, which is a silver lining to this whole thing, if nothing else.
Just everybody stay safe. This can really be accomplished very peacefully.
