Gross! Funny! Gronny!
Sometimes it seems like Russia straight up forgot they were hosting one of the biggest international events in the world, and just scrambled once they remembered they were so close to the deadline!
Here’s the thing: we really do think Russia has tried to prepare Sochi for the Olympics, it just might’ve been a miscalculation of timing and how much they could actually bite off.
For example, reporters from around the world are starting to check into local hotels — and they’re tweeting about the hilariously awful state things are in. You know, because when they started arriving, only six of nine media hotels were even ready for guests, and a lot of them are still under construction!!
If you’re lucky to have running water, it isn’t drinkable (it is a lovely shade of pee yellow, though). Don’t even get us started on the stray dogs (and the fact that they’re mercilessly being murdered for the games) and the construction workers that are EVERYWHERE!
With news about the Sochi Olympics running way over budget, our minds are kinda blown that this is the state of things! They spent a record $51 billion!
Ch-ch-check out some of the best tweets (below)!
CNN booked 11 rooms in one @Sochi2014 media hotel five months ago. We have been here for a day and only one room is available. #cnnsochi

Still waiting for "preparations" on hotel room to finish. Hoping they're origami-folding toilet roll, rather than, say, putting the roof on.

Water main break means no water at our hotel in #Sochi. Could take awhile to fix. #CTVSochi

I have a room! No heating or internet, but it has a (single) bed at least…

Got back to hotel. Lift broken after half day in use. Trekked up stairs. Door to my floor (that'd be the fire door) locked. Utter farce.

Miss you, hot water in my hotel. You were great.

Ok, so my hotel doesn't have a lobby yet.

For those of you asking, when there's no lobby in your hotel, you go to the owner's bedroom to check in. #Sochi2014

People have asked me what surprised me the most here in Sochi. It's this. Without question … it's … THIS. pic.twitter.com/1jj05FNdCP

Water restored, sorta. On the bright side, I now know what very dangerous face water looks like. #Sochi #unfiltered pic.twitter.com/sQWM0vYtyz

The reception of our hotel in #Sochi has no floor. But it does have this welcoming picture. pic.twitter.com/8isdoBuytl
