Stand Up To Cancer is going with a Spidey-city theme this year, New York City to be exact.
Andrew Garfield, who stars in The Amazing Spider-Man and is an ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer, explained why they went with the comic book hero for their 2012 fundraising shirts:
“One of the great things about Peter Parker (Spider-Man) is he├óΓé¼Γäós a regular guy from Queens who is transformed into a hero. These shirts underscore the idea that anyone has the power to be a hero. Cancer is one of our greatest villains. I├óΓé¼Γäóm proud to join others in standing up to this disease.”
The shirts also carry an extra special meaning for Andrew and his co-star slash girlfriend Emma Stone after the Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin lost her battle with cancer while filming the flick in 2011.
