For Miz Swift, there’s one quality which she values highly in friendship:
“SWIFT: I now see resilience as like a major quality of friendship. When your stock is down and they’re still wanting to hang out, that’s like [makes okay symbol with hands], and I know who those people are now.”
LOWE: Selena is one of those people.
SWIFT: I’m so proud of her. She’s been through so much. I’ve watched so much happen in her life, and she is such a revelation because now she’s making her best stuff. I am really excited because when somebody has had great life experience, you know really though things they have had to go through, and they can process that and make art that’s going to help other people, that’s what kind of song this is. She played me the video, it’s the best thing she’s ever done.”
She continued, explaining more about how proud she is of Gomez’s ability to channel personal experiences into song:
“You know, I think no one can say that better than she can, but just from my perspective as her friend, I’ve just never been more proud. The things that she’s overcome, the situations that she’s risen above… It’s been a long time that we’ve been friends, and she’s the best. She’s just the best. I’m really excited because when somebody has had great life experience, has had really tough things they’ve had to go through, and they can process that and make art that’s going to help other people, that’s what kind of song this is. I’m stoked.”
Aww!! So sweet!!

And it seems Selena feels similarly about her strong friendships! In her own interview with Lowe, which dropped Friday, she shared:
“My friends stood by my side when I think they visibly saw me in pain. They never stopped loving me.”
We imagine she is alluding to the physical pain of her ongoing battle with Lupus, as well as the emotional pain of her breakup with Justin Bieber.
