Black Man In Texas Sentenced To 70 YEARS For Spitting At Police!

Black Man Sentenced To 70 YEARS In Prison For Spitting At Texas Police!

One man is facing some unbelievably harsh Texas justice after — apparently — just spitting at police.

Last year, Larry Pearson was arrested on domestic violence charges after a woman told police he struck her in the face, according to TMZ. At the time, Pearson was mad that his alleged victim was not the one being put in cuffs, and according to prosecutors, began kicking at the cop car doors and spat at the officers as he was being apprehended.

The prosecutors claimed that he continued to hock loogies after arriving at the Lubbock County Detention Center — and now, they are looking to “send a message.”

During a Wednesday sentencing, the 36-year-old was sentenced to 70 YEARS in prison after being found guilty on two counts of harassment of a public servant.

According to Everything Lubbock, Larry had been arrested on multiple occasions in the past, and holds convictions for family violence and aggravated robbery. Because of that, his minimum sentence was said to be 25 years. Prosecutor Jessica Gorman asked jurors to settle on a sentence that would “send a message” to not only Pearson, but society in general, adding after the fact:

“You’re not going to get 70 years for something like this when you’ve never been in trouble before.”

70 YEARS, though?? Repeat offenses or not, this is an absolutely LUDICROUS punishment! It’s a man’s whole life!

Pearson’s attorney Jim Shaw reportedly tried to minimize the sentencing, explaining that his acts were a “simple misdemeanor” that got “out of control.” However, it doesn’t sound like anyone’s budging.

This is WILD. We hope something can be done. Watch more on the controversial case (below):
