The Amazing Spider-Man is off and running toward the massive box office profits that Hollywood has been busy predicting.
The Sony release earned $7.5 from midnight screenings alone, which is a nice start for the $120 million+ that Marc Webb‘s reboot is expected to earn by Sunday.
To give you an idea of what that figure may be signaling toward, Iron Man 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 made the same amount at midnight. The Marvel movie ended up making $128.1 million during the first weekend of release, while Pirates made $135.6 million.
Since the new Spider-Man has the advantage of the 4th of July holiday, followed by a weekend, this blockbuster may easily surpass expectations.
Any guesses as to how many millions of dollars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone‘s movie will rake in by the end of the week?
