Seriously? This sucks!
Although Amy Winehouse‘s father, Mitch, had hoped to launch a foundation to combat addiction in his daughter’s name, apparently, the name ‘The Amy Winehouse Foundation’ has apparently been registered by someone else – so he’s had to put his plans on hold “for the time being!”
He explains:
“Somebody else pinched it off of us before we could get it registered. All these donations which are coming in – we don’t know what to do with them at the moment. The plan is to help all children – not just rehabilitation, not just substance abuse. It’s to help all children in need.”
Such a shame that someone would do that – especially after he made the announcement at her funeral!
We think that regardless of what the official name is, it’s still an absolutely beautiful tribute to his daughter’s memory, and we sincerely hope that the money so generously donated already will soon be put to good use, so that others like Amy can get the help that they need!
