So long Windy City, hello Steel City!
The Dark Knight Rises will be shooting in a new locale this time around. It has been announced that production on the flick, which is to start fairly soon, will be based in Pittsburgh, PA. In years past, Chris Nolan’s Caped Crusader flicks were primarily shot in Chicago, but it would appear that budgets times they are a-changin’.
Of course, the city of Pittsburgh is thrilled to welcome the whole team to town. Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl released an ecstatic statement, saying:
├óΓé¼┼ôWe are thrilled to be welcoming the Batman film to Pittsburgh, and eager for the economic impact that our city will experience. This is another example of the growing film industry in our community, and we will be rolling out the red carpet for them.”
Nolan echoed his happy remarks in his own statement, though perhaps just a tab less enthusiastically, saying:
“Pittsburgh is a beautiful city. We have been able to find everything we were looking for here, and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman.”
Well, last summer, the Twi-hards got their fill when Taylor Lautner came to town to film Abduction. Now, it seems like its the guys turn to ogle some goodies.
And by that we mean the Batmobile.
Nah, we’re just kidding. We mean Christian Bale.
