This is music to our ears!
The ARIA Music Awards are an annual chance for the Australian music industry to celebrate the best releases of the past year… but Wednesday’s award show had a slightly different message than usual:
Marriage equality!!!
Not only were The Veronicas selected to host the event, but fellow Aussies Kylie Minogue and Sia made sure to make their gay-friendly voices heard as well!

After Lisa Origliasso kicked the festivities off by teasing twin sister Jess about her recently reignited relationship with Ruby Rose, Kylie and her fiancé Joshua Sasse took a break from their presenting duties to get political, with the music legend saying:

“We are here to introduce a shining light in there Australian music industry, but we are also here to say thank you to everyone who supported Josh’s campaign for equality.”

Josh added:

“Thank you, sweetheart. This is more than just a movement. This is people’s lives, and we want to say to every single member of the LGBT community — You are not alone. You have a voice. If we all stand together, we can bring Australia back on the right side of history and make 2017 the year that we all say, ‘I do, Down Under.'”

Preach!
Luckily, the LGBT love didn’t stop there — Best Female Artist winner Sia actually sent a marriage equality advocate onstage to accept her award!

The Cheap Thrills singer’s surrogate Angie Green, CEO of Stand Up Events, urged the public to do the right thing in her speech, saying:

“Outrageously, Sia has asked me to accept this award on behalf of Australian Marriage equality. I can just walk off now! No, this honestly thank you so much for that. That was outrageous. This award is for every single non-hetero and gender-diverse person who can currently not marry the person that they love in this country. This award is for our friends, our family, our work friends, all or mates. Sorry. Bottom line is — Australia, that no-one’s lives and the people that they love should be up for debate. You have the opportunity now not to just do a great thing, but to do the right thing.”

Thank you for using your powers for good, y’all!
And congrats again to all the night’s big winners… even if they were mostly just Flume and Troye Sivan. LOLz.
