Tiger Woods Breaks Silence On DUI Arrest -- Says He Will 'Seek Treatment'

Tiger Woods is breaking his silence!

Less than a week after being arrested in Jupiter Island, Florida, for a DUI after rolling his vehicle, the professional golfer is addressing the “seriousness of the situation.” In a statement shared on X (Twitter) on Tuesday, the 50-year-old said:

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I’m committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, more focused place, both personally and professionally.”

Per his police affidavit, Tiger appeared “lethargic” and showed “severe signs of impairment” during his interaction with law enforcement. He passed a breathalyzer test, but refused a urinalysis exam to check for other substances. It has since been revealed that two hydrocodone pills were found in his pocket at the time of his arrest. He was officially charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, both misdemeanors.

The athlete concluded his statement by asking for privacy:

“I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time. — Tiger”

Tiger has hired lawyer Douglas Duncan to represent him in court, the same lawyer who represented him for his 2017 DUI. He has pleaded not guilty.
