Tom Hanks and Billie Joe Armstrong! Who knew!

Though some other studios were actively pursuing the rights to the musical, in turns out that Tom’s Playtone Productions will be producing the stage-to-film adaptation of American Idiot.

The details are still in the works, but Michael Mayer who direct the stage verision will return as the helmer for the film and Green Day frontman Billie Joe will reprise his Broadway role as St. Jimmy.

Hell! At this rate, why not just get the entire orginal stage crew and cast to come back! Might as well!

FYI – Playtone also has the rights to Spring Awakening. How busy are you at the moment, Lea Michele??? LOLZ!
