Fans Think The Simpsons Predicted Tom Hanks Would Get Coronavirus!

The Simpsons appears to have predicted Tom Hanks would get the coronavirus.

Okay, this is actually very unsettling!

In recent years, you might have noticed how The Simpsons seemed to accurately predict world events years before they actually happened. From Donald Trump being elected President to Kobe Bryant‘s untimely death to the Three-Eyed Fish theory, the iconic animated show has been so consistent!

As reported, Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson recently became the first Hollywood stars to test positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19); the couple contracted it while abroad in Australia, where Hanks was filming a movie. But the thing is, fans have now latched on to a theory the beloved cartoon saw this particular case coming all along!

We know it might sound like a reach but check this out: the show seemed to predict the coronavirus itself in a 1993 episode which features a virus from Japan. The Osaka Flu, as it’s titled, sweeps the planet and infects the residents of Springfield. Mass hysteria breaks out and the timeline of events feels all too similar to what’s happening in the world right now.

One Twitter user even edited a news broadcast from the episode to reflect the uncanny details:

This point lends credibility to the next!

Ok, remember The Simpsons Movie from 2007? This time, its Homer’s pet pig that inadvertently triggers a pandemic threatening everyone’s safety. At one point in the film, Hanks’ likeness makes a cameo appearance to advertise a new Grand Canyon because the main one has “gotten boring.” He began:

“The US Government has lost its credibility so it’s borrowing some of mine. Now I’m pleased to tell you all about the new Grand Canyon. This is Tom Hanks, and if you’re going to pick a government to trust. Why not this one?”

After appearing in an ad for the attraction, he proclaims:

“This is Tom Hanks saying if you see me in person, please, leave me be.”

The idea is that Tom needed to quarantined at that point because he caught the virus going around!

Crazy, right??

As we mentioned earlier, a slight reach — but still eerie, to say the least!

In all seriousness, though, we wish Tom and Rita well while they’re taking the necessary measures to get well soon. As expected, plenty of celebs have already flocked to social media to react to Hanks’ current condition and share their well-wishes.

After Tom announced the news in his Instagram post (above), messages came pouring in!

“Please take care,” wrote Reese Witherspoon in the comments section. “Sending love,” added School of Rock star Jack BlackReal Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards chimed in with, “Feel better.”

Actor Marlon Wayans jokingly added:

“DAMN YOU TOM!!! You always gotta be first. First Emmy winner, first Oscar winner, first Hollywood Coronavirus. That one was mine damn it! Curses. Get well soon brother. I love you tremendously. Praying for you and wifey. Always my nizzle.”

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted kind words of support, too:

“Wishing you both a speedy recovery, and sending lots of love”

And similar messages were shared from the likes of former Bachelor Nick Viall, actress Skai Jackson, American Idol alum Katharine McPhee, as well as Whitney Cummings, Mia Farrow, Wilmer Valderrama, and Noah Schnapp.

Oh, and there’s us too! Wishing you both a speedy recover, Tom and Rita!
