Broadway's Ruthie Ann Miles Tragically Loses Unborn Baby Mere Months After Her Daughter Was Fatally Struck By Driver

Ruthie Ann Miles has suffered another tragedy.
As you may recall, back in March, the pregnant Broadway vet and four-year-old daughter Abigail Blumenstein were plowed down by a vehicle in Brooklyn, NY. While the Tony Award winner survived the collision, her young daughter did not.

However Miles’ heartbreak has only worsened as, two months after the accident, Ruthie Ann has since lost her unborn baby. Oh no. This is just awful.
In a statement to the NY Daily News, the actress’ lawyer Ben Rubinowitz confirmed:

“At the time of the crash Ruthie was pregnant and was severely injured. This past Friday Ruthie and Jonathan lost their baby, Sophia Rosemary Wong Blumenstein. The pain suffered by Ruthie and Jonathan is nearly impossible to fathom.”

Our hearts are just breaking for Ruthie and her husband. And we aren’t the only ones, as many in the Broadway community have since sent their love to Miles and Blumenstein on Twitter:

The woman allegedly responsible for the March crash, Dorothy Bruns, has been charged with manslaughter. It’s said that Bruns — who battles multiple sclerosis, seizures, and failing health — blew through a red light and slammed into Miles, Lauren Lew, and their respective children. Lew’s one year old boy Joshua also died in the wreck.
To make matters worse, the alleged culprit had previously racked up eight tickets for running red lights and speeding violations. She also hit a city housing authority worker mere months before the fatal accident. Smh.
Following the horrible crash, Mayor de Blasio commented:

“This should never happen. She should never have been allowed to be driving a car after what we know.”

Unfortunately, in light of Ruthie’s latest loss, prosecutors will be unable to pursue additional charges. Apparently, due to the state’s law, homicide charges can only be applied AFTER a baby is born. In this case, it seems unfair as Ruthie and Jonathan were expecting their baby girl this month.
As always, we’re keeping Ruthie and Jonathan in our thoughts during this terribly tragic time.
