There are multiple unexpected controversies tainting the beautiful news of Hailee Steinfeld‘s engagement… but bad blood with old friend Taylor Swift and her NFL star beau ain’t one of them!
If you haven’t heard, over the weekend the True Grit star and Josh Allen announced they’re getting married. The news was immediately followed by some tension online, but thankfully her man’s rivalry with Travis Kelce didn’t add to it!

It’s always been a liiiiiittle awkward that her pal Tay started dating the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs shortly after Hailee had been with the star quarterback of the Buffalo Bills for a couple months. The Chiefs and Bills are constant rivals, so we wondered if that caused any friction off the field… But clearly not since Trav was one of the first to send well-wishes!
He wrote immediately on their Friday announcement:
“Congratulations!!! “
See? No bad blood here! We may even see Taylor and Trav show up to the wedding! Man, what an event that will be…
Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of awkwardness surrounding Hailee and Josh’s big news.
First, fans think her Across The Spider-Verse co-star is devastated! Apparently there’s a long-running theory Shameik Moore, who plays Miles Morales to her Gwen Stacy, is hopelessly in love with her. But unlike every other Spider-Man couple, their onscreen relationship does NOT extend off the set. So when he tweeted just moments after the news dropped:
“There’s still more people to meet. More opportunities to come. And more chances to try. Live, learn, apply.”
Folks figured he was trying desperately to talk himself into everything being OK. He eventually caught wind of the widely whispered interpretation and posted:
“yall been twisting my words and f**kin wit my name for years now.”
He wasn’t the only one saying his words had been twisted…
Shortly after the news, Josh’s ex-girlfriend Brittany Williams could be seen commenting on a post on her own feed:
“luckily my boyfriend owns a team and doesn’t play for one. don’t have to be with another brain dead CTE athlete.”
Daaaaaaamn.
But when she started to get backlash for apparently mocking Josh — and severely injured athletes — Brittany denied everything! She claimed she didn’t write that comment at all! Early Saturday morning, Brittany took to her IG Story and said she’d actually been hacked:
“My accounts have been hacked several times tonight. Trying to get it resolved. If anyone has any tips please lmk. “
Uh huh. Well, it’s clear not everyone is happy for Josh and Hailee. But we’re just glad her old friend Tay and her footballer BF have her back!
