The show will go on!
The people behind a new Broadway Tupac Shakur musical needed the approval of the rapper’s famously protective mother to make the show happen.
So, naturally, the playwright, Kenny Leon, went to great lengths to make sure she felt involved. According to our source:
“Producers personally gave Afeni Shakur [momma Tupac] a rough preview of Holler If You Hear Me.”
Apparently the sucking up did the trick! Afeni was “ecstatic” and can’t wait for the show to premiere.
It probably helps that the play is not about her son, just uses the music — the music she gets money for them using.
It will still be a while till any regular folks get to see the play. We hear they haven’t even cast it yet!
