Makeup magic!
Lots of people all over the Internet commented on Uma Thurman‘s unusual look at the premiere of The Slap earlier in the week — she was a Twitter trend for a whole day!

But as we said in the original post on the topic, it appeared that a lack of eye makeup was the main cause for the dramatic change in the actress’ appearance!
And we were right!
Her makeup artist Troy Surratt confirmed that he and Uma deliberately opted for a look that was “more editorial than it was celebrity.”
He said:
“We did a much stronger brow and a bold lip for a French sort of feel. I applied a creamy foundation for all-over glow, and then contoured the hairline and her cheekbones, adding warmth. I applied the lip ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ my color in M├â┬⌐galomane mixed with Peccadille ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and then we just kept the eyes really, really light.”
Troy also changed his client’s eyebrows:
“The way I shaded her eyebrows with the pencil, I created an uplifting effect. Then, I finished with a shimmering, silky-beige shadow on her lids, and went with no mascara at all…sort of a reaction against all the fake lashes we’ve been seeing on the red carpet.”
Lack of mascara and eyeliner can make a very big difference, as evidenced in the photo (above) comparing Uma’s bare look with her more commonly done smokey eye.
Anyone who’s ever gone from wearing a lot of makeup to very little can attest to the fact that people will be taken aback, with lots of “are you okay? You look tired” comments being thrown around. LOLz!
