Was the US Army Choir throwing shade at Donald Trump during the 2025 White House Governors Ball?
At the event on Saturday, the choir belted out the track Do You Hear the People Sing? from the popular musical Les Misérables in front of the president, and it was a song choice that had everyone talking! Why? Because the tune is considered a protest anthem, a call for people to take a stand against the ruling class. It features lyrics like:
“Do you hear the people sing? / Singing the song of angry men?/ It is the music of the people / Who will not be slaves again!”

Wow. The US Army Choir really belted this in front of Trump — a move many believe was meant to throw shade at the administration, especially after he declared himself “the king” on social media. How powerful and brave if that was the case. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like they picked the song to diss POTUS. He actually used the show tune during his 2016 and 2024 presidential campaigns. According to The Guardian back in 2022, he even played it before announcing his 2024 candidacy.
So while we would love to think the choir chose the track to take a jab at Trump amid his tyranny, that does not seem likely. But who knows! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Do you believe they were low-key shading Trump? Sound OFF in the comments.
