Race Car Driver David Steele Dies In Tragic Crash

Racer David Steele dies aged 42.
This is just so tragic.
Veteran sprint car driver David Steele lost his life during the opening lap of Saturday night’s Southern Sprint Car Shootout Series at DeSoto Speedway in Bradenton, Florida. He was only 42 years old.
Officials stated that Steele’s vehicle’s left front wheel struck the right rear wheel of another car, causing his sprint car to go up in the air, spin 180 degrees, and hit the retaining wall.

Paramedics made attempts to treat him, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.
Steele was a former USAC Silver Crown Champion and two-time Little 500 winner. He also boasted 60 USAC national feature wins, was the first to win 100 features in Florida racing, and owned every sprint car racing record at DeSoto Speedway.
Our thoughts are with his family during this terribly difficult time.
