Well, now we’re learning more about Mel B‘s nasty injury recently — and it’s so unfortunate!
After much speculation about whether drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the Spice Girl‘s fall (and lots of denial by her rep), it turns out that Mel wasn’t lying!

Per insider information over at ET, Mel was apparently staying at a friend’s house in London over the weekend when she woke up at one point in the middle of the night; while walking down a narrow set of unfamiliar stairs at the house, she fell — and severely injured her hand, as well as breaking a few ribs.
The outlet can say for certain that the fall was NOT substance-related because, upon arriving at the hospital with her friend, Mel underwent drug and alcohol testing while being prepped for surgery to repair the broken bones. Those tests, per the source, came back negative.
And that’s a big deal, because the 43-year-old had been scheduled to fly back to El Lay on Sunday so she could show up in court on Monday and take her mandated drug and alcohol tests there. The injury and recovery has obviously pushed that back… but the fact that she was sober during this untimely fall will hopefully work in her favor with the court.
For now, at least, let’s just hope Mel B can continue to recover. Broken ribs are no joke — and things no doubt could have been worse!
