This has been a hard year for the MTV family.
Following the sad death of Nitro Circus star Erik Roner, the network lost Sam Sarpong to suicide on Monday.

While we knew that Sam chose to end his life by jumping off a bridge in Pasadena, California, we’ve come to learn more details about the tragic situation.
According to cops, Sarpong was up on the bridge for SEVEN hours before he made the fatal leap.
During the stand-off, the 40-year-old’s family members were consulted in an attempt to diffuse the situation. A source explained:
“While conversing with the individual, members of his family arrived and provided background regarding his emotional state. Tragically, after approximately seven hours of communication, the male jumped from the bridge into the Arroyo.”
Ugh, we can’t even imagine the pain the model’s family and friends must have felt in that moment!
The authorities elaborated on the tragedy, saying:
“It is sad and troubling when an individual has become so despondent that he or she feels their only option is to end their life. These incidents can often have a significant impact on the victim’s loved ones, first responders, and the community as a whole. My prayers go out to the family.”
“Troubling” would be an understatement. There are way too many bright and beautiful people in this world who are contemplating to cut their lives short at this very moment.
While Yo Momma co-star Wilmer Valderrama has already spoken out on the situation, Nick Cannon also posted a message about his friend’s passing late last night.
Check out the emotional words (below):

So heartbreaking.
We hope Sarpong’s family manages to keep their heads up during this difficult time.
