    I don't wanna sound like one of those haters who says Owen has a perfect life and "what the hell is his problem" …. but thinking (too much) about how even someone with such a great situation (hot career, decent looks, lots of funny and famous friends, tightknit family, boatloads of money, etc etc ) would want to "cash their chips in" does make me wonder why I am sticking it out with my sorry life, one step away from moving into my parent's basement, stuck in a dead-end job with no signs of anything changing for the better anytime soon.     I doubt he actually tried to commit suicide… i believe it was more a cry for help. When men really want to attempt suicide they usually opt for the more extreme measures like hanging or shooting themselves. Cutting wrists and overdosing on pills (especially taking them all at the same time and throwing them back up) are not usually successful means of suicide.

    There is no way Owen is "faking" his suicide attempt. Have you seen him since he left the hospital? He looks like he's been through the ringer. There are so many other ways to promote yourself other than a staged suicide attempt. Like just being out at the clubs and soaking up all the exposure. I don't buy it. He has some serious demons. He needs help and will probably need help for a long, long time. This didn't just happen overnight or because of Kate Hudson.

    Not for nothing, but how can you "try" to kill yourself 3 times and not succeed? This man really doesn't want to kill himself he wants help and it is obvious he is not getting it. If he continues he will most likely do it, but it will be an accidental suicide. If his family and friends really care about him they will get him out of that environment, away from Hollywood and the drugs and get him the mental help he needs. I hope the people around him just aren't looking at him with dollar signs. He needs intervention from people who care about HIM and not his career.

    Haven't read all the comments, so maybe this has been brought up already. (If so, sorry for the repetition.) Does anyone remember The Royal Tennebaums, how Luke Wilson plays a character who tries to commit suicide by cutting his wrists? Am I right on that?
    Anyway…depression is usually a medical problem, and needs medical treatment. Hope Owen gets a good doctor who knows his/her stuff. Sometimes people are resistant to treatment. Hope this isn't so with Owen. I love that man.

    I'm with you 100%. Hearing about someone who seems so lively and genuinely, and of course successful going through something like this is just even more depressing to us joe-schmoes who have 1/1000th of what this individual has, and are still hanging in there day to day, rinse wash repeat.

    Obviously being wealthy and famous does not even remotely mean someone is problem free. But the fact that they could have so much more than us, and still go through these things is a huge hit to us lesser's ambition.

    To all the dickheads who say: "He's rich and famous, what does he have to be depressed/suicidal about": Imagine having the world at your feet and feeling either nothing, or utter despondancy for no "good" reason…day in and day out….weeks, months…maybe years. You can't reason your way out of it. In fact the more you try to twist your brain around how you're feeling, the worse things get. Sometimes having things "hard" makes things easier, because there's a tangible reason for how terrible you feel.

    To all the people who think that 2 prior attempts means he's attention seeking: Look at the statistics. Sure guys use more lethal ways of commiting suicide, but still the average is about 5 attempts before doing yourself in. And these are statistical norms, not hard and fast rules. Wrist slitting, while less lethal, doesn't mean the intent is any less lethal. Also, people are often torn between living and dying and it's unsurprising that they seem "half arsed" about ending their lives. Being suicidal is conflicting, draining and confusing. The suicidal people might want the care and compassion they need, but cannot provide themselves. This is NOT "just attention seeking".

    To all the people who call suicide cowardly: Why don't you sit in a room with a gun in your mouth, or a blade at your wrist, or a packet of paracetamol and see how easy it would be to do yourself in. Yes it's difficult for the people left behind. Horrible. Painful. But if you're that depressed that you want to die, how that will affect everyone else isn't too high on the agenda. If a perfectly mentally healthy person killed themselves just to hurt YOU, yes, that would be selfish, but funnily enough I don't see that happening too often, if at all.

    In short, this place is full of dickheads, who obviously haven't been suicidal or depressed themselves. You should feel blessed you can't understand what Owen has done. It's no wonder they are so jealous and bitter when surely they can't have made it very far in life themselves and probably won't do so in the future without significant effort - and not because of what life or anyone else could have done to them, but primarily because they have chosen to *not* use their minds constructively. Although their actions are very cruel I wouldn't go so far as dignifying them with the label "evil" as that would imply a minimal level of intelligence, and it would also give them the attention that *they* are crying out for.

    I know Owen is way too clever and aware to take any of this useless negativity seriously. I also know he will grow and move through this very difficult time and I hope it will help him to know that so many of us (the ones who have a heart and a brain - the only ones whose opinions matter here) genuinely appreciate his admirable qualities such as his heart, wit, humour, loveability, sensitivity, charm, emotional intelligence and humanity. He is also adorably handsome and attractive and those who are so mean about his nose obviously either don't know his heart or are just not capable of looking beyond the surface and I am sorry for those people. And besides, even if he's just not your idea of physical attractiveness, appearance is a minor factor in the attractiveness of someone who simply dazzles by virtue of his personality and heart alone. Those are far better things to have than looks. It just so happens that he does have looks as well and I'm sure a good part of that comes from his personality anyway.

    As for anyone who thinks this is pandering to a spoiled baby, I would want anyone … anyone … to get help recovering from depression regardless of "status", class, race etc. It just so happens that he is a celebrity. And contrary to what a lot of jealous, petty people shamelessly believe, just because he's a celebrity does not mean he should be denied the help and reassurance that any depressed person is entitled to - just because some people (er .. spoiled babies rather) can't move beyond their bitterness and/or jealous rage. Depression afflicts every possible category of human being however you want to define those categories. People, if you actually used that grey stuff between your ears you would know this. Grow up … oh and while you're at it, get a life and then maybe you won't be so hateful.
