Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos & Wife MacKenzie Splitting After 25 Years -- Their Divorce Could Be The Most Expensive In History!

Jeff Bezos’ divorce might just make history as the most expensive split of all time.
On Wednesday, the Amazon CEO announced on Twitter that he and his wife “decided to divorce” after 25 years of marriage, causing analysts to speculate just how much of the billionaire’s fortune MacKenzie Bezos is entitled to.
According to CNBC’s Robert Frank, any wealth the tech titan made during their marriage could be split equally between the two, since they live in the “community property” state of Washington. Because Amazon was founded a year after the Bezos tied the knot, MacKenzie could theoretically argue that she’s she’s entitled to half of her estranged husband’s Amazon fortune — which is estimated to be around $137 billion.

But divorce attorneys say MacKenzie is highly unlikely to ask for half of the pie, since a settlement that high would require Jeff to his sell some of his 80 million shares of the company and possibly dilute his control of it — something that could, attorneys might argue, negatively affect Amazon’s stake.
Seeing that Bezos tweet suggested an amicable split between the two, we can assume MacKenzie would want the family fortune to continue to thrive; so the novelist will probably be gunning for less than $66 billion.
Less than $66 billion. Pshh. Peanuts.
As of now, the most expensive U.S. divorce is said to be real estate tycoon Steve Wynn and his wife Elaine, who settled for $1 billion in 2010.
